BIDADI: With a wary Congress sending 44 of its MLAs from Gujarat to a resort on the city outskirts, it is nine days of just sitting back and relaxing for these MLAs. They are staying at Eagleton Golf Resort on the city’s outskirts and they might be taken to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh next.
With the party spending lakhs every day for this vacation, the MLAs are making the best of their stay. Resort staff said after their arrival here on Saturday, some MLAs went for a dip in the swimming pool while some sweated it out at the sporting area. They treated their taste buds to a buffet of Gujarati cuisine for dinner.The holiday comes at a time when the MLAs’ home state is inundated due to the rains. They are under fire on social media. They are being questioned by netizens about their absence from Gujarat when many parts are hit by floods.
Security beefed up
After the MLAs arrived here around 4am on Saturday, security was tightened both inside and outside the resort. Members of the resort were asked to produce their ID cards for extra security. No rooms are available for other members or guests on Sunday due to the presence of the MLAs. The MLAs will reportedly stay at the resort till August 7.
The resort is spread over 500 acres and is located 1 km off Mysuru Road. There are very few buildings around the resort with only a few small shops dotting the road leadig to its entrance. The MLAs were escorted to the resort by Bengaluru Rural Congress MP D K Suresh, who left the place in the morning.
