Dasara: Fifteen jumbos all set to travel to Mysuru

The Forest department has identified 15 elephants  for participation in the historic Jamboo Savari on Vijayadashami day in October.

MADIKERI: The Forest department has identified 15 elephants  for participation in the historic Jamboo Savari on Vijayadashami day in October. As usual, most of elephants selected are from Dubare and Mathigodu elephant camps as both of them are located near Mysuru.

All the selected elephants have been participating in Dasara Jamboo Savari for many years. Seven elephants from Mathigodu camp, six from Dubare, one each from Kytaradeva Gudi and Balle camps will be participating. Arjuna(57) from Balle elephant camp will  carry the golden howdah.
The senior-most elephant is Gajendra(62) from Kyatadevara Gudi elephant camp. It has been participating in Dasara for the last 18 years.
