H D Kumaraswamy alleges massive scam in power purchase in Karnataka

JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Friday alleged a massive scam in the purchase of power by the state government.

MYSURU: JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Friday alleged a massive scam in the purchase of power by the state government.

He told reporters here that misappropriation to the tune of Rs 25-30,000 crore has occurred in power purchase and the government is trying to hush it up on the pretext of forming a legislature committee.

Kumaraswamy said he would release documents of the misappropriation in the coming days. He ridiculed the government stating that it could have waived farmers’ loan with the money looted in the power purchase.

He also took serious exception to the government giving crop compensation of Rs 1 and Rs 5 to some farmers.

The former chief minister said the legislature session time is being wasted through unwanted discussion like homa and others. Hence many legislators have stayed away from the session. There is no point in attending the sessions if ministers are absent, he alleged.
