MYSURU: A tiger which was giving sleepless nights to people of Naganahalli and surrounding villages in HD Kote taluk for the last few days, was finally captured and shifted to Wild Animals Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre located at Koorgally on the outskirts of Mysuru city on Wednesday.

The forest officials had launched the operation to capture the tiger on Sunday and it was suspended on Tuesday after the tiger was not spotted.

The forest officials had thought that the animal might have returned to the woods. But on Wednesday, the tiger was again spotted in the village following which it was captured. Over 200 forest personnel were involved in the operation and captured the animal around 6 pm.

Sources said the animal is weak and appears to be unable to hunt which is why it is finding its way outside the forest often in search of prey. The animal will be treated in the rehabilitation centre.
