KSP wants re-exam of Kannada paper

A day after parents and students highlighted errors in the Class 10 Kannada question paper of the Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE), the Kannada Sahithya Parishat (KSP) demanded that the council conduct a re-examination.

BENGALURU: A day after parents and students highlighted errors in the Class 10 Kannada question paper of the Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE), the Kannada Sahithya Parishat (KSP) demanded that the council conduct a re-examination.

Parishat president Manu Baligar wrote to the ICSE chairman in this regard on Friday, saying that question paper errors had confused the students.

Many parents and students approached the media on Thursday soon after the exams, claiming that there were a lot of grammatical and printing errors in the question paper, which literally took at least half an hour for the students to comprehend the questions.

Following the media reports, Baligar issued an official press statement where he mentioned about his communication to the ICSE.

He said, “Due to grammatical errors in the question paper, many students were not able to understand the questions properly and write correct answers. Considering this, ICSE has to conduct re-examination for the subject and provide error-free question paper.”

Parents have also started sending individual letters to the council demanding a re-examination.
“As it is a board examination, even those who set the paper must be responsible. Why should students pay for their (ICSE’s) mistakes.

The authorities must take a call and announce re-examination,” said a parent, who sent an email to the ICSE demanding re-examination.
