BENGALURU: Home minister G Parameshwara on Saturday said people, and not S M Krishna, would decide whether Congress has a future in the state or not. He ws responding to the former chief minister’s statement on Friday that Congress as a party did not have a future.

Parameshwara said since Krishna has now joined the BJP, it is obvious for him to speak in favour of the party. “He has joined during campaigning and will definitely try to promote the party. He will do his job and we will concentrate on ours. Ultimately, it is the people who will decide,” he added.

The KPCC president said that he was confident of the Congress coming back to power in 2018, because of the programmes implemented by the government for social justice.

Meanwhile, Krishna, who returned to Bengaluru on Friday, wasted no time in launching a tirade against the Congress.

“I worked for the Congress for 46 years. I have made it clear to everyone why I left the party. I was tired of the torture I went through. They did not even ask me before removing from the post of External Affairs Minister. I would have gladly resigned,” he said.

Krishna will be campaigning for BJP in Nanjangud and Gundlupet bye polls scheduled to be held on April 9.
