Tribals refuse to move from Diddalli

MADIKERI: Close on the heels of  Tribals of Diddalli agreeing to move to housing sites provided by district administration, a section of  tribals on Saturday announced that they will not vacate  Diddalli.
Deputy Commissioner R V Dsouza on Friday conducted a meeting with tribal leaders Swamiyappa and Anitha and had managed to persuade them to move to housing sites in Byadagotta and Basavanally in Somwarpet taluk where administration has constructed a layout with 181 and 170 house sites respectively with measurement of  30x30 ft.

But the tribals refused to go to Kedamullur in Virajpet where the administration has constructed a  layout with 180 sites citing it to be hilly, unstable region.
The administration responded positively and instructed ITDP officers to construct drinking water project and toilets in new layouts.

However, on Saturday, tribal leaders  J K Muthamma and J K Appaji  refused the  proposal of district administration saying they will migrate only if the authorities promised them in writing that they will provide two acres of land along with housing sites to each tribal family.
Appaji and Muthamma alleged that  the leaders A K Subbaiah and  CPM state committee member  D S Nirvanappa have been misleading the tribal people. Both leaders warned that  these outsiders will not be allowed to enter Diddalli if they continue with the same attitude.
