DAVANGERE: Income tax officials from Hubballi raided the office of GM Souharda Credit Co-operative society run by G M Prasanna Kumar, at Mandipet on Thursday. Incidentally, this firm has former union minister G M Siddeshwar as a shareholder.
According to sources, four officials, who had come from Hubballi, visited the cooperative society premises and took all the accounting books and other records in the morning.
The society has been operating in Mandipet for the last 8 to 10 years. It has a good number of members and loans are disbursed and deposits collected from shareholders.
Sources said income tax officials raided a house and areca godown at Bheemasamudra village in Chitradurga taluk, where many documents were scrutinised.
