BENGALURU: The state government is likely to placate KAS officer K Mathai, who had taken on senior IAS officers two days ago by filing a complaint against them with the Lokayukta.

Sources said that chief secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia has given an appointment to Mathai, now posted as Administrative Officer, Sakala, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), to meet him on Friday evening. But Mathai is said to have informed the chief secretary’s office that he will meet the officer on Monday as he was on leave on Friday and Saturday.

Mathai filed a complaint with the Lokayukta on Wednesday against senior IAS officers, including former BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana, accusing them of harassing him. Claiming it was a vendetta for naming Lakshminarayana in the BBMP hoarding scam, he alleged that the former is pressuring other senior officers to withhold his promotion and increments. A departmental inquiry which was closed earlier, is now being forcefully reopened to harass him, he alleged.

Mathai had expressed displeasure over the fact that he was not allowed to meet CM Siddaramaiah despite submitting a 101-page report on the intentional harassment meted out to him. He had noted that he was transferred 27 times in the last nine years, while, on an average, officials get transferred once every three years.

In his earlier stints, Mathai unearthed the multi-crore scam in allotment of sites by the Mandya Urban Development Authority and the advertisement hoarding scam in BBMP.
