Union Human Resources Development minister and party in-charge for poll preparations in Karnataka, Prakash Javadekar has arrived in the state to look into the lapses in the preparations for the Yatra and alleged one-upmanship within the party is said to be the cause for many party legislators not showing interest in mobilising party workers for the bike rally organised on the launch day of the Yatra. He will also initiate corrective action.

Javadekar and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa are scheduled to chair the party state unit’s core committee meeting in Mangaluru on Thursday to discuss the lapses and other issues as part of the party’s preparations for Assembly election. On Wednesday, Javadekar held separate meetings with BJP MLAs from the city and BBMP corporators to analyse the lapses in the rally held at Bengaluru International Exhitbition Centre. The MLAs and corporators were taken to task on their failure to ensure good participation of party workers in the bike rally.

According to sources, the meeting dwelt at length on former Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok’s alleged failure to involve the city MLAs and corporators in organising the rally, which was the main cause for the poor turnout as most MLAs and corporators stayed away from the preparations.
