BENGALURU: Income tax officials on Thursday morning raided All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) state secretary V Pugazhendhi’s house in Murugeshpalya. AIADMK’s office in Srirampura was also raided.
A team of I-T officials from Chennai raided V Pugazhendhi’s house and the search operation went on for more than 12 hours. Neither Pugazhendhi nor his family members were allowed to communicate with others. Only once, I-T officials let Pugazhendhi speak to his lawyer during the raid. The I-T sleuths said this was in connection with bigger raids taking place in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Pugazhendhi takes care of AIADMK operations in Karnataka. He is said to be close to AIADMK leaders Sasikala and TTV Dinakaran, whose establishments were also raided on Thursday. The raid was conducted in connection with the disproportionate assets that Sasikala and AIADMK leaders allegedly possessed. Pugazhendhi is often seen with TTV Dinakaran during his visits to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail to meet Sasikala.
