Serving army man commits suicide in Mysuru lodge

MYSURU: A 38-year-old serving army man with epilepsy allegedly hanged himself at a lodge in Mandi police limits. The incident came to light on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as D V Kumar, a resident of Gandhinagar here. 

He was serving as a havaldar and posted in West Bengal, the police said.

According to the police, he had checked into the lodge on November 14. Barring a brief appearance the following day, when he went out for a while, he locked himself after returning to the room, only to commit suicide.

According to a preliminary investigation, he has left a suicide note saying he was taking extreme step owing to seizures. Medical reports corroborating his health disorder has been found in his bag seized from the lodge room, police added.

Kumar's wife Revati and daughter Ramani aged six are suffering from dengue fever and are presently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

A post-mortem was conducted on Friday and a case has been registered.
