BELAGAVI: Public Works Minister H C Mahadevappa on Tuesday assured the Legislative Council that services at all toll plazas in the state will be streamlined after holding meetings with the agencies concerned. He added that he has already held two such meetings. He, however, dismissed the demand of the opposition members during Question Hour to constitute a House committee to probe the inadequacy of services being provided at toll plazas.

BJP member Arun Shahapur asked Mahadevappa if he was satisfied with the services provided at toll plazas. Shahapur said the agencies running these plazas should ensure drinking water, washrooms, medical help and ambulance services among other services, but none of them make provisions for these. Even JD(S) members supported this.

To this, the minister said that some of the agencies are already working towards streamlining the plazas. This is when Shahapur demanded setting up of a House committee to look into the services provided by agencies. But when the minister rejected the demand, the BJP members rushed to the well to protest.

The minister said that since the toll plazas are set up under the National Toll Policy, it will not be fair to constitute the committeeers, he will hold another meeting with the agencies concerned.
