BELAGAVI: The number of Namma Metro coaches will be doubled soon and BMRCL is also thinking of increasing the frequency of trains from the existing six minutes to three minutes, Bengaluru Development Minister K J George said.

Replying during Question Hour in the Council here on Thursday, the minister said BMRCL has already made a request for procuring 150 more coaches with BEML and delivery these coaches will begin shortly and end by next December. Once the number of coaches is enhanced, an exclusive coach will be reserved for women, physically challenged and senior citizens as requested by Congress member Veena Achaiah.
To a question on harassment on Kannadigas, the minister ruled out any such incidents and added that the government will never sacrifice interests of Kannadiga employees working in BMRCL. In a particular case of alleged harassment of a staffer, George assured that he will hold a meeting the managing director of BMRCL.
