MANGALURU: A 15-year-old boy was rescued from falling victim to the fatal ‘Blue Whale’ game in the coastal city.

Sources said the boy, a ninth standard student in a private school in Bondel was found with ‘Blue Whale’ etched on his wrist few days ago. It was first  noticed by his classmates, who later informed teachers.

When questioned, the boy confessed to being addicted to the game. Later, management of the school informed his parents who are from a middle class family and asked them not to allow him to access mobile phone.

The boy was admitted to a hospital in city and was also counselled in order to wean him from the game.

Shocked by the incident, parents of the boy and school management have distributed pamphlets among students to create awareness about the ill-effects of the game, sources said.
