BENGALURU: A day after the release of a report on the city’s air quality by Co-media lab and Climate Trends which highlighted shocking levels of air pollution in the city, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board issued a formal statement terming the findings incorrect.

The report was based on instant readings gathered from a low cost sensor equipped in an autorickshaw which was then driven on seven main routes in the city.“Some universities and national companies are manufacturing low cost equipment without obtaining approval from the competent authority. The organisations measured particulate levels without following notified protocols.

The data reported by Co-media lab and Climate Trends is incorrect. The board monitors air pollution levels as per guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Environment and Forests and Climate Change and its data is correct and reliable,” a statement by the KSPCB said. The statement also said that the equipment used by Co-media labs and Climate Trends was not approved by any certifying agency.
