Karnataka JD(S) President HD Kumaraswamy promises Rs 100 crore fund for welfare of Brahmins

Responding to the request from the community to set aside Rs 25 crore for their welfare, Kumaraswamy said he would provide Rs 100 crore for the purpose.

BENGALURU: JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy has assured  to set up a Rs 100-crore fund for the welfare of Brahmin community and a Brahmin Development Corporation, if he is voted to power in the forthcoming assembly election.

Responding to the request from the community to set aside Rs 25 crore for their welfare, Kumaraswamy said he would provide Rs 100 crore for the purpose and come out with programmes for all round development of the Brahmin community.

Addressing the convention of Brahmins at National College Grounds on Saturday, Kumaraswamy recalled Siddaramaiah government’s assurance a few months ago on setting up of Brahmins’ Development Corporation and expressed his displeasure at its failure to fulfil the promise.

Recalling distribution of sites by former Chief Minister Bangarappa to Brahmins in the city, Kumaraswamy noted that the title deeds for the sites have not been issued so far.Conveying his commitment for the welfare of all the communities, Kumaraswamy said he would meet leaders of all the communities to understand their woes and redress their grievances if voted back to power.
