MYSURU: The baby boy of titular king of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and Trishika Kumari was named Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Wadiyar, in a simple ceremony held at Bengaluru Palace on Sunday. The name has been mostly derived from that of his father Yaduveer and grandfather Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar making it Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Wadiyar. The baby was born on December 6 at a private hospital in Bengaluru.
Clad in traditional clothing, the Wadiyar couple took part in the rituals associated with the naming ceremony which was strictly restricted to the royal clan. The majestic hall where the rituals were conducted with ornate pillars was decorated with flowers. The cradle was decorated with Mysuru Mallige.
The particular ceremony held after a gap of 65 years (with the last being that of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar who was born on February 20, 1953) was attended by the royal families from in and around Mysuru, Bengaluru and also Rajasthan, with Pramoda Devi Wadiyar supervising the rituals.
Mysuru-based designer creates dress for Aadyaveer
Mysuru: A city-based designer has designed the dress for the royal baby Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Wadiyar for his naming ceremony held at Bengaluru on Sunday. Five days ago, designer Ahmed Sawood was surprised when Pramoda Devi Wadiyar walked into his shop — The Silk Shop — on DD Urs Road to buy a Kurta and Payjama for Aadyaveer, son of scion of Mysuru royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. Speaking to TNIE, Ahmed said: “Pramoda Devi came along with her friend, who is also our customer, and asked us to design a Kurta and Payjama for her three-month-old grandson.
We designed this dress with brocade silk material within 24 hours.” “This is the first time we have designed a dress for a baby from the royal family and it was a great privilege and honour,” he added. Ahmed said: “Yaduveer’s mother (biological) has also visited our shop in the past. We have designed dresses for some children of MLAs also.” Ahmed and his family has been running the business of designing dresses in the city for the last 104 years and Ahmed is into the job for the last 25 years.
