Confusion over who’ll get higher education portfolio in H D Kumaraswamy cabinet

Even as speculation is rife about Devegowda getting the Co-operation portfolio, Bandeppa Kashempur, who has been inducted as the Co-operation Minister, is in no mood to give up the ministry.

BENGALURU: A day after Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda heaved a sigh of relief after getting his wish for change of portfolio fulfilled, confusion prevails in the H D Kumaraswamy cabinet on who will get the portfolio. As it turns out, no one is keen to have it.

Even as speculation is rife about Devegowda getting the Co-operation portfolio, Bandeppa Kashempur, who has been inducted as the Co-operation Minister, is in no mood to give up the ministry. Bandeppa made it clear that he is well on course to bringing major changes in the ministry and has assigned tasks to officials.

Bandeppa told The New Indian Express, “I have not received any information from Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy about any change in my portfolio. I had sought a portfolio which would offer me scope to serve the farmers directly and the co-operation sector suits me right. There is no question of giving it up.”
When asked about GT Devegowda’s reported claims of getting the Co-operation portfolio, Bandeppa said, “I am not aware about what he is saying. I have started work in the ministry assigned to me. I will accept whatever role the Chief Minister assigns me and he has not said anything about change of my portfolio so far.”
