MSME exhibition centre to come up at Dobbspet in Karnataka

The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) will build a centre of Excellence and Innovation at Dobbspet, the foundation stone for which will be laid on Monday by the Chief Minister.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) will build a centre of Excellence and Innovation at Dobbspet, the foundation stone for which will be laid on Monday by the Chief Minister.

Announcing the event, general secretary of the association TS Umashankar said the Centre will be set up on a 4.5 acre plot at the Dobbspet industrial cluster. Facilities would include an international exhibition centre, a tool room, an international marketing centre and an R & D testing centre. KASSIA vice-president Basavaraj S Javali said currently the nearest exhibition centre was Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC). “The upcoming centre would provide the facility at much cheaper rates. We want to charge higher amounts to other agencies who hold an exhibition and use the funds to subsidise exhibitions for MSMEs,” he said.

Umashankar credited the Siddaramaiah government for providing land for the facility. He said the government had paid half the cost of land, in addition to a grant of Rs 5 crore. He said a sum of Rs16.5 crore had been allocated for the first phase of operations for the facility. Minister for Small Scale Industries SR Srinivas is also slated to attend the event on Monday. KASSIA has about 10,500 members in the state and 119 affiliated associations.
