‘Telangana can go ahead with teachers’ transfer’

Telangana government on Tuesday told the Hyderabad HC that it has no objection to transfer the teachers working in Agency areas to plain areas provided if it was ensured that a substitute was posted.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Tuesday told the Hyderabad HC that it has no objection to transfer the teachers working in Agency areas to plain areas provided if it was ensured that a substitute was posted in the school located in Agency area otherwise it would result in shortage of teachers in the Agency areas. The pass percentage was less than 10 per cent.

State additional advocate general J Ramachandra Rao made this submission before a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J Uma Devi dealing with batch petitions filed challenging the Telangana Teachers Regulation of Transfers Rules 2018.

The AAG said that the government has no objection to make transfer of the teacher from agency areas to plain areas, but it would be possible only if the one who was working in plain area expresses his readiness to work in the subject school of that agency area, he noted. After recording the same, the bench permitted the state government to go ahead with the Teachers’ counselling process. While disposing of the petitions, the bench made it clear that its order was applicable only for 2018-19 academic year.
