Police Commemoration Day: Don’t spare elements trying to create tension, says CM HD Kumaraswamy

HDK said that some anti-social elements were trying to create communal rift in society on religious grounds.

BENGALURU: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has asked policemen in the state to act tough against those who try to create tension in the society in the name of religion.Speaking at Police Commemoration Day held at KSRP Grounds in Koramangala on Sunday, Kumaraswamy said that some anti-social elements were trying to create communal rift in the society on religious grounds.

“Police should not spare such elements at any cost. Our government is in full support for the police. You (police) should not compromise or not succumb to influence or pressure in discharging your duty”.
“People have good opinion about police. The reputation has to become much better and an atmosphere should be created where people do not fear or hesitate or approach policemen,” the CM said.

He also assured that the government will consider the demands of the policemen. “ADGP Raghavendra Auradkar Committee report about salaries, schemes and policies for the benefit of policemen is under review. I assure you that the government will implement most of its recommendations soon”.
DCM and Home Minister G Parameshwara, DG & IGP Neelmani N Raju, film actor Sudeepa and other senior police officers were present in the event.

414 cops died in 2017-2018

From September 1, 2017 till August 31 this year, as many as 414 policemen across the duty have laid down their lives while performing duty. In Karnataka, 15 police staffers, including two women, passed away while on duty.
