Firm director accused of harassment

A woman has lodged a complaint against the director of a private finance firm, accusing the latter of sexual harassment.

MYSURU: A woman has lodged a complaint against the director of a private finance firm, accusing the latter of sexual harassment. In her complaint to Nazarbad police, the victim, a homemaker, aged about 25 years, has alleged, a 55-year-old director of a finance firm was sexually harassing her to settle an amount. The victim who had invested Rs 10 lakh in the firm had sought the amount.

As is the rule, the firm had deducted some percentage of the amount towards its commission and also rate of interest before agreeing to return about Rs 7 lakh to the depositor. However, the victim had received only Rs 5 lakh, with Rs 2 lakh yet to be paid. When the victim asked for the amount, the accused, started to send feelers, besides asking her to accompany him on a trip, to receive the due amount. The police are currently treating it as a non-cognisable offence.
