BALLARI: PWD Minister H D Revanna said around 15 lakh farmers in the state will benefit from the loan waiver announced by the government.
Addressing the media here on Sunday, he said, “Wait for another 15-20 days, the government will issue certificates to farmers across the state in this connection.”

Revanna, who was in Ballari to campaign for Congress candidate V S Ugrappa, lashed out at the BJP for repeatedly saying that the government is yet to take off.

He said, “I don’t know what they mean by that. We have cleared Rs 49,000 crore loans of farmers. A sum of Rs 9,000 crore has gone to the co-operative sector and Rs 36,000 to nationalised banks to clear debts of farmers. We spent a huge amount on the education sector also. Steps have been taken to introduce Israeli model in horticulture sector to boost production,” he said.

On repeated allegations of family politics in the JD(S), he asked Yeddyurappa and Sriramulu as to why they don’t field any BJP worker in Shivamogga and Ballari instead of their kith and kin.
“We fielded a party worker in Ramanagara earlier. Now, people want Anitha Kumaraswamy to contest the election. Therefore, she has been made the candidate of Ramanagara. Yeddyurappa and Sriramulu have no moral right to talk about family politics,” he said.

On allegations of corruption in the government, especially his department which witnessed too many transfers, Revanna said Even B S Yeddyurappa’s son-in-law has been given a good placement in Huballi as an executive engineer. “Go and ask him how much he has paid for the transfer,” he said.
On BJP terming the coalition government as a ‘suitcase’ government, Revanna said: “We have no idea about suitcase. The BJP knows about it very well.”

On BJP’s question that how will Kumaraswamy seek votes of people of North Karnataka, he said: “How will the BJP seek votes? What has it done for N-K people? It was Deve Gowda who allocated funds for irrigation projects.”

When asked about BJP leaders’ statement that the coalition government will collapse after the elections, he said: “There will be major changes in the BJP and not in the coalition government. Many people in the BJP are waiting for the defeat of Yeddyurappa. Even Eshwarappa wants Yeddyurappa to lose in the bypoll.”
