In a bid to stop ‘underworld activities’ at Hindalga Jail in Belgaum, the Prisons Department shifted Yusuf Bachkana, a sharpshooter and close associate of underworld don Chota Rajan, to Mysore Central Prison on Sunday night.

Confirming this, Chief Superintendent of Central Prison in Mysore P N Jayasimha said they have housed Bachkana in a special cell where godman Nityananda Swami was housed earlier.

Bachkana was sentenced to life for murdering Bangalore-based builder Subbaraju. Bachkana had allegedly issued a life threat to Rajaram, a Mumbai-based builder from Hindalga Jail.

The police probe found that the phone call was made from Hindalga.

The Prison Department suspended some of the prison staff in Belgaum and decided to shift Bachkana to Mysore.
