Elephants Attack Farmer

Two wild elephants that strayed into Kamasamudram hobli and Budikote hobli of Bangarpet taluk destroyed standing crops and attacked a farmer.

The elephants came from Muthanuru forest area of Tamil Nadu on Friday. Crops belonging to Sreeramappa, Dodda Appu Rao, Govinda Rao and Venkateshappa at Sontaganahalli were destroyed.

When the elephants entered Yeluvahalli village, Jayaram Reddy, a farmer, who tried to chase them away was lifted and flung by an elephant. He sustained injuries and is admitted to a private hospital. The elephants have camped near Iynahosur lake.

Jumbo Shifted to Mattigodu Camp

Hassan: A rogue elephant captured by officials of the Forest Department at Nagawara forest area in Alur taluk was shifted to Mattigodu elephant camp on Friday. The elephant was brought to the camp with the help of five tamed elephants.

Interestingly, early shifting of the captured elephant led to speculation.

Some villagers said the forest officials shifted the elephant after it died due to heavy dosage of tranquillisers.

Forest officials refused to comment on this allegation.

Two Attacked by Bear in Hassan

Two people were seriously injured when they tried to capture a bear that strayed into Giribommanahalli in Hassan on Friday.

The injured are Yariyajna and forester T D Ramesh.
