Refusing to call off his  demonstration on ‘Bidai’ scheme, former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday urged the Karnataka Government to issue an order extending the scheme to all poor brides.

Even as his day and night stir entered the 15th day on Wednesday, the KJP state president said the government was trying to use police to scuttle his agitation.

He expressed apprehension that the police may arrest him and others any time. “If the government decides to scuttle the stir, which is being held peacefully, we will continue our stir in jail. There is no question of withdrawing the agitation, unless the government issues an order extending the scheme to all,” Yeddyurappa said.

Stating that the city police have issued notice saying no agitation would be allowed beyond eight days, he said: “Let the government bring a new law to this effect and take action later. The same police have given me permission to hold the dharna till 24th of this month... The Chief Minister is acting like a dictator as no minister or official representing the government bothers to hear the grievances of the people sitting on dharna.”

Senior KJP leader Shobha Karandlaje, former Union Minister Dhananjaya Kumar and others were present.
