JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda on Thursday appealed to party workers to work hard to ensure the jd(s)’ victory in at least 15 constituencies.

He told part workers that  Karnataka has already suffered on various fronts, including in inter-state water disputes, because of lack of leadership at the Centre.

“The need of the hour is to support regional parties as national parties are neglecting the state. The injustice meted out to Karnataka can be corrected only if JD(S) wins at least 15 seats in the state,” he said.

Gowda said the JD(S) has given maximum representation to women candidates — Nandini Alva from Bangalore Central, Geetha Shivarajkumar from Shimoga and Ruth Manorama from Bangalore South — in the state while the Congress has fielded two and the BJP one.

He also flayed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for terming BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi a ‘narahantaka’ and said it was unbecoming of the chief minister.

“In my five decades in public life, I have never directly attacked any national leader,” he said.

Meanwhile, the party’s Bangalore South candidate Ruth Manorama recalled her first visit to the JD(S) office in 1994 to spread awareness on giving representation for women and said she was happy that the party is giving them their due.
