Gulbarga District In-charge Minister Qamar-ul-Islam visited Yashoda hospital and Global Hospital at Hyderabad on Saturday morning and inquired about the health condition of SI Mallikarjun Bande and ASI Uddandappa, who were injured in a shootout.

Islam told Express that the condition of Uddandappa has improved and he is now able to speak. Uddandappa thanked the state government for taking all measures to provide best treatment to him, the minister said.

Even after 80 hours of the shootout incident here on Wednesday, Station Bazar Police Station Inspector Bande who sustained bullet injuries in the brain is still in coma, said Gulbarga SP Amit Singh.

Singh, who spoke to Express on Saturday, said Bande is still on ventilator support and doctors attending him are saying he is in a critical condition.

The family members of Bande requested Qamar-ul-Islam to take measures to airlift Bande to England for a better treatment.

Islam promised them the government will discuss the matter of airlifting Bande to a foreign country with the doctors in the hospital and the chief minister.

If the doctors recommend airlifting, it will  be considered seriously, he added.
