Denying MLA Anil Lad’s charge that the Chief Minister discriminated against him during the Cabinet formation, KPCC president G Parameshwara has said: “Once Lad absolves from the charges of illegal mining activities, his name would be considered for induction.”

He told reporters here on Tuesday that he had defended the induction of Santhosh Lad into the ministry, whose name did not figure in the Lokayukta report on illegal mining.

Saying that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has plans to convene its general body meeting next month, he said: “The date would be finalised after consulting with the party in-charge Digvijay Singh.”

He also said that the KPCC has received report from 15 district observers on the party’s possible candidates for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Reports from the remaining districts are expected in a week or two, he added.
