The Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) is celebrating its centenary year from May, and Kannada lovers can expect a feast of literary and cultural events stretching well into 2015.

Speaking to Express here recently, Parishat President Pundalika Halambi said, “Our celebrations begin on May 5. We are organising Kannada events at the district, taluk and hobli levels.”

The Parishat is planning a membership drive across the state. The lifetime membership fee may go up from `260 to `500 soon. “Currently we have two lakh registered members. But it is a matter of shame that only two lakh out of six crore Kannadigas are our members,” he said. He said the Parishat needed government support to make the drive effective.

In the centenary year, the Parishat will introduce reseravations. “One vice president’s post will be reserved for women in all executive committees, including the central committee. We are also giving reservations for religious minorities.”
