Narayana Murthy, Sudha Receive Basava Shree Award

Founder president of Infosys N R Narayana Murthy on Sunday said proper investment in industrial sector helps in generation of employment and in turn indicates the development of the nation.

He was speaking after receiving the Basava Shree-2013 Award at Basaveshwara Medical College auditorium presented to him and his wife Sudha Murthy for their contributions to society.

The Basava Shree award comprises a plaque and a cheque of `5 lakh.

Murthy said hard work and perseverance for the development and technological advancement will take the country to the top position.

He thanked pontiff Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana for recommending his name for the prestigious award.

Requesting the government to create an environment for industrialisation, Murthy suggested that society adjust to changes and in its quest to excel.

Sudha Murty, who handed over the award money to an orphanage run by the mutt, urged the public to work hard towards the overall development of the society.

Requesting the youth to develop a scientific way of thinking, she urged them to transform themselves into entrepreneurs and create jobs which in turn create wealth.

District in-charge and Minister of Social Welfare H Anjaneya requested youths to develop the habit of hard work.

Two novels, The Nectar and The Ambrosia, translated by H S M Prakash, were released on the occasion.

Student Vaishnavi Bharadwaj delivered a speech on Malala Yousafzai who fought for child rights.
