The Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) is not averse to having alliance with like-minded parties including Congress in Lok Sabha elections due next year, KJP president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has said.

Addressing a news conference here on Friday, he made it clear that he would take legislators and leaders into confidence before forging alliance with any party in LS polls. His priority, however, was to strengthen KJP in the State for which he would tour the entire State from the next month. He said that he would prepare the party workers in 8-10 districts where KJP candidates had secured significant number of votes in May Assembly elections. Since there was time for the next Assembly polls, the party would be strengthened at the grassroots. Replying to a question, Yeddyurappa clarified that he would not discuss anything with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. As of now, there was no proposal for any tie-up with BJP in the upcoming LS polls.

He threatened that KJP leaders would stage dharnas in front of Vidhana Soudha and all district headquarters in case the State government failed to waive Rs 25,000 farm loan and release funds to take up drought relief measures in drought-hit taluks. No development had taken place after the new government came to power and it was losing faith of the electorate. The government hiked MLA Local Area Development Fund from Rs one crore to Rs two crore, but so far, not a single paisa had been released.
