Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president G Parameshwara discussed the party’s position in the state with All India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul Gandhi at Delhi on Monday.

According to party sources, Rahul had quizzed both the leaders about the party’s preparedness for the coming Lok Sabha elections and also fielding strong candidates to win more seats from Karnataka.

Of the 28 Lok Sabha seats, the Congress has nine, while the BJP has 18 and the JD(S) one.

During their meeting, Parameshwara is said to have invited Rahul to address a few rallies. The party has planned rallies in four revenue divisions in the coming months. The leaders also discussed recently submitted reports by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee observers on the selection of probable candidates to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Parameshwara and Siddaramaiah also plan to meet party supremo Sonia Gandhi.

They are likely to attend the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, the highest policy making body of the Congress, to be held on Wednesday, the sources said.
