The venue for the even is yet to be finalised. “We are expecting 25 projects from each district. Ten best projects from each district has been selected for the state level finale,” said Prabhu Math, project assistant in charge of the NCSC. The focal theme for the 20th NCSC is ‘Energy- Explore, Harness and Conserve.’ According to Prabhu, a large number of girls are expected to participate in the 20th NCSC this year. “Last year, out of 1,605 students, 875 were girls,” he said. The state-level NCSC was held in Gulbarga University last year, where a total of 321 projects were presented from 315 schools in the state.

While Tumkur (south) registered the highest participation with 34 projects Yadgir was not far behind.  “Of the 30 projects (teams) that make it to the national-level, two will get featured in the Indian Science Congress. One of them will also stand a chance to win `10,000 under the Young Scientist Award,” he said.
