Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s sudden decision to review his earlier decision to allow Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar to complete his term is said to have been prompted by the CM’s “changed behaviour” towards him and legislators who are supporting him. Yeddyurappa has called a meeting of his supporting legislators on Saturday to take a call on whether to continue in the five-month-old Shettar government or pull it down.

“The CM had been holding back work files related to all those legislators who have identified with Yeddyurappa. Shettar even accused Yeddyurappa of preventing him from becoming the CM much earlier just because he too was a Lingayat. This has angered him more than anything else,” a KJP leader said.

BJP MLC M D Lakshminarayana, associated with Yeddyurappa said: “When Yeddyurappa quit the BJP to join the KJP, he had clearly told Shettar not to ill-treat his supporters. But in the recent past, the BJP  has been taking unilateral decisions and indulging in politics of vengeance. Why should we tolerate such humiliation and still continue with them?”

Not perturbed by Yeddyurappa’s outbursts, the BJP has challenged Yeddyurappa to go ahead and topple the government. “Let him do what he wants to. Why is he making mere statements and confusing  people?” Deputy Chief Minister K S  Eshwarappa said.

He, however, asked Yeddyurappa what reason he will cite to bring down the “scam free” Shettar government “which has taken several  steps for the welfare of all sections of the society.”
