Kollam: The Kollam revenue district Kerala School Kalolsavam will be held at GHSS, Chathanoor, from December 16 to 19 Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, District Panchayat president and chairman of the festival committee K. Somaprasad said it was for the first time that students of upper primary, high school, higher secondary, vocational higher secondary and technical higher secondary classes are competing jointly in a festival^ The winners from 12 education sub-districts will be participating in the five-day festival which will be held at 9 venues. There will be competitions in 386 events. 7100 students and 1500 teachers will participate in the festival^ A total of 15 sub-committees have been set up for the smooth conduct of the festival.
General convener DDE M.Vijayan said there a budget worth Rs 9 lakh has been set apart for the festival. No fund collection will be made from outside. All expenses will be met from the fund mobilised from students. Registration and literary competitions will be held on December 15. A cultural procession will be held on December 16 at 8.30 am^ The inaugural meeting will be held at 10 am. Labour and Excise Minister P.K. Gurudasan will inaugurate the festival. N. Anirudhan MLA will preside over the function. DDE M.Vijayan will welcome the gathering. District Panchayat president K. Somaprasad, MLAs from the district, District Collector A. Shajahan and people’s representatives would attend the inaugural meeting.
The valedictory meeting will be held at 5 pm on December 19. Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran will inaugurate the meeting and distribute the prizes. MLAs Aishapotti, Kovoor Kunjumon, SP M.R.Ajithkumar, Paravur Municipal chairman K.P. Kurup, District Panchayat vice-president Manmadhan Nair and others would attend the function
