KOCHI: In a tragic incident, two young lovers committed suicide at two different places in the state on Sunday.

The police said that they had recovered suicide notes from the rooms of the girl and the boy. The girl was identified as Amala, 19, of Nemom in Thiruvananthapuram district and the boy was identified as Janab Sunil, 18, of Thiruvananthapuram.

While the girl, an MBBS student at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences(AIMS), Kochi, committed suicide by jumping from the multistoreyed girls’ hostel building, the boy, a BDS student, hanged himself at Mettukada in Thiruvananthapuram.

Certain personal issues were the reason for the boy and the girl to take such an extreme step. The boy hanged himself from a tree in front of the Food Safety Commissioner’s office near Mettukada. Amala and Janab were classmates during Plus-Two at the Christ Nagar School, Thiruvananthapuram.
