KOLLAM:  People from various walks of life reached Kakkanadan’s residence ‘Archana’ at Eravipuram here on Wednesday to pay their last respects. The body was taken to his residence at 11.30 am after being kept for a while at the chapel of the private hospital for public viewing. Speaker G Karthikeyan reached his house and paid homage. District Collector P G Thomas paid his last respects to the writer on behalf of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. N Peethambara Kurup MP, P K Gurudasan MLA, M A Baby MLA, former ministers N K Premachandran and Benoy Viswom, film director T V Chandran, novelist Perumbadavam Sreedharan and Mayor Prasanna Earnest were among those who paid homage. Mourning the demise of the radical voice in Malayalam literature, Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph said that Kakkanadan was a writer who freely expressed his own  thoughts and was forthright in his writing. Labour Minister Shibu Baby John termed the demise of Kakkanadan as a great loss to Malayalam literature.
