ALUVA: Adwaithasramam, established by Sree Narayana Guru on the banks of Periyar here, is all set to celebrate Maha Shivratri festival.

Pujas and rituals are held here following the guidelines of the guru who prepared the unique rituals at a time when the people were exploited by Brahmin domination, said Asramam secretary Swamy Sivaswaroopananda.

Shivratri celebration at Aswaithasramam will start with a morning puja at 5 am on Monday. Guru Dharma Pracharana Sabha (GDPS) Convention will be inaugurated by P T Thomas MP at 9.30 am. GDPS registrar M V Manoharan will preside the function. Sree Narayana Dharma Trust secretary Guruprasad Swamikal will deliver the keynote address.

The 89th All Religion Conference will be inaugurated by V S Achuthanandan at 5.00 pm. S N Dharma Sangam Trust treasurer Parananda Swamikal will preside over the conference at Adawaithasram. T S Vijayan Thanthrikal Karumathra, Palayam Imam Moulavi Jamaludeen Mankata, World Council for Christian former moderator Fr K M George, M P Virendrakumar will speak on the occasion.

Arrangements are being made for two thousand people with special separate arrangements for men and women to offer ‘tharpanam’ for their ancestors at the ashramam. This year onwards, boiled rice will be used Ato perform ‘tharpanam.’ Santhis Jayanthan, Sajesh, Madhu and Sali will lead the offering of rituals. The devotees thronging at ashramam are requested to follow the instructions given out by the volunteers, Swamy Sivaswaroopananda said.
