Ajay Kumar, popularly known as Guinness Pakru is all set to don the director’s hat, and has said that his maiden directorial venture, ‘Kuttiyum Kolum’, will be a full-length entertainer.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, the 2 feet 6 inches tall actor said that the film, a big-budget production, deals with a serious issue, but will cater to all sections of the audience.
“The name of the film is very close to my heart. I have written the story myself, and it was developed over a span of eight years.
“I first narrated the story to director Vinayan, who then told me that there is a potential director in me. The shooting of the film will commence at the Perinadu helipad in Pathanamthitta on November 8 and the first shot will be taken using a helicopter,” he said.
The movie is set in a village on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border and the male lead will be played by Tamil actor Adithya Ayota, while young actor Sanusha will play the female lead in the film.
Ajay Kumar, who entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the shortest actor to act in a full-length feature film, with his role of a dwarf prince in Vinayan’s 2008 film ‘Albhutha Dweepu’, said that this time, his intention is not to break any records but to make a good, entertaining film.
“I don’t know whether it is a new-gen movie, but it is definitely a movie for the new generation. Children have always been the target audience of the films in which I have full-length roles. So, there will certainly be something special in ‘Kuttiyum Kolum’ for the kids. But at the same time, it will also be a treat for the elders. I can assure my audience that there will be no vulgarity or dialogues with double-meaning in this film,” he said.
A native of Kottayam, Ajay Kumar has fond memories of the district where he first gained popularity through youth festivals.
“Kottayam will always hold a special place in my heart and the release of the film here would be a mega event,” he said.
Vijayaraghavan, Biju Menon, Saiju Kurup and Sona Nair, among others, will also be a part of ‘Kuttiyum Kolum’. Two new faces, who have won accolades through reality shows, will also make their debut in the movie.
