The indefinite strike launched by auto and taxi drivers across the state has put the public in dire straits.

The strike is supported by various workers’ unions including CITU, AITUC, INTUC, BMS, UTUC, STU and HMS. The strike was total except in rural areas where a few vehicles plied.  AITUC general secretary and convener of the joint protest forum, Pattom Sasidharan, said that the strike was total in the state. ‘’The strike will continue till the government announces fair hike,’’ he said. Protest programmes will be held at all auto and taxi stands on November 16, he said.  Hundreds of workers attended the Secretariat march and mass dharna on Thursday. B Satyan MLA inaugurated the dharna.

Various union leaders K Jayamohana Kumar, Pattom Sasidharan, Balaramapuram Kabeer, Kottakakam Sivan, C Jyothish Kumar, Govind R Nambi, Vallakadavu Gafoor, P Ganseshan Nair and others addressed the dharna.
