TP case: Order issued to produce all accused

The trial proceedings in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case commenced at the Special Additional District Sessions Court (Marad cases) at Eranhipalam here on Friday.

The court on Friday issued orders to produce all the 76 accused in the chargesheet on November 29.

One of them has fled to Bahrain. However, 62 of them, including prime accused Onchiyam area committee secretary C H Ashokan and area committee member K K Krishnan, are out on bail. The court also posted to November 29 for hearing two bail pleas moved by 25th accused C K Rejikanth and 27th accused C Rejith.

The court will issue summons to the witnesses after reading out the chargesheet to the accused. The Kerala High Court last week directed the court to complete the trial before July 31, 2013. Earlier, special prosecutor C K Sreedharan had approached the High Court to give  direction to speed up the trial in the case.

The chargesheet filed before the Vadakara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on August 13 stated that CPM’s grudge towards Chandrasekharan resulted in his elimination at Vallikadu near Onchiyam on May 4.

More than a company of police were deployed on the court premises considering the sensitivity of the political murder.

All the accused were produced before the court in high security. Earlier, North Zone ADGP N Shanker Reddy on Thursday visited the court and reviewed the security arrangements.

The Special court was set up for conducting the trial in the Marad carnage case, in which nine fishermen were killed at Marad beach on May 2, 2003, and the communal clashes that led to the death of five persons at Marad on January 3 and 4 , 2002. 

Recently, the court scheduled to commence the trial of moral policing case in which Shaheed Bava, a youth lynched by a mob at Kodiyathur, in the district last year.
