Smoothen services, officials told

The District Development Council (DDC) convened here on Saturday decided to coordinate the services of various departments to effectively make preparations for the Sabarimala pilgrim season.

Collector Mini Antony, who presided over the meeting, directed officials to actively participate in the preparations. “The officials concerned should frequently conduct inspections on the preparations. Squad works should be made active. Medical aid needed for the devotees should be provided at all the centres,” she said.

The meeting  also decided to conduct frequent inspections at shops to ensure quality along with fair price for food and other products. Adequate facilities will be provided at the railway stations and private and KSRTC bus stands for devotees from various states.

The meeting also decided to effectively utilise the annual project fund allotment. The deadline for examining the project and its submission to the district planning council have been fixed as November 26, and November 30, respectively.

Meanwhile, the representative of Kodikunnil Suresh M P, M H Haneefa, pointed out that the electric posts and flex boards on the land,  acquired for the road development works at Changanassery junction, and illegal parking of vehicles there, have been creating traffic congestion.

Immediate steps should be taken to tackle the issue, he demanded. ADMT V Subhash, and the officials from various departments participated.
