The Vigilance Court on Friday issued a notice to the state government on a petition filed by a social activist seeking vigilance probe into DGP (Prisons) Alexander Jacob’s controversial comments on the row over the alleged Facebook activities by the remand accused in T P Chandrasekharan murder case.

Considering the petition filed by P D Joseph, Vigilance Judge K Haripal issued the notice to the state government asking to file an affidavit detailing its stand on the issue. The court has postponed the case to December 10 for further hearing.

The petition said that prima facie there were evidence to prove that Fayaz, one of the key accused in a case of gold smuggling through the Cochin International Airport, had gifted the smartphones to the murder accused after visiting the Kozhikode jail with the connivance of the jail authorities.

Besides, the jail DGP’s remark that the row over the prison rules violations might have been created with an aim of influencing the judge who hears the TP murder case, has proved that there were conspiracies behind the total episode, the petition says.

The DGP on Thursday expressed doubts over the authenticity of the pictures posted on the facebook, saying that before reaching a conclusion the pictures need to be scientifically examined.

He also remarked that there was nothing amiss in an elected representative meeting a prisoner if one wishes to, giving an apparent reference to T P murder accused P Mohanan’s  meeting with his wife K K Lathika MLA at a restaurant in Kozhikode while on his way to hospital.
