Businessman Wasn't Part of Gujarat Team: State BJP Chief

Karunagappally-based businessman Abhilash Muraleedharan was not part of the Gujarat delegation which visited Kerala recently.

Karunagappally-based businessman Abhilash Muraleedharan was not part of the Gujarat delegation which visited Kerala recently. If he had met the delegation, he must have come with Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, BJP state president V Muralidharan said here on Thursday.

Earlier this week, Government Chief Whip P C George had accused Thiruvanchoor of having a nexus with Abhilash Muraleedharan who has business interests in Gujarat.

George had alleged that the businessman was present when the Home Minister met the Gujarat delegation led by Minister Babubhai Bokharia.

The BJP state president told mediapersons that the Gujarat delegation’s visit was on a government matter related to the ‘Statue of Unity’ project and not a political one.

“It need not be mixed with politics. Those who are criticising it are politicising the issue to hide the Congress party’s guilt in ignoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,” V Muralidharan said.

Modi to Visit T’Puram in Feb

Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will visit Thiruvananthapuram in the first week of February, Muralidharan said. Modi will address a party rally during his visit.

The state election committee of the BJP, which prepares the panel of candidates for the elections, will be formed at the party’s state executive committee meeting on Friday, he said.

The central parliamentary board of the BJP finalises the candidates after examining the recommendations submitted by the election committee.

Friday’s state executive committee meeting will review the election preparations and finalise the campaign programme, he said.
