The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has submitted a tariff petition before the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) for tariff recategorisation of consumers, mostly for professionals, government offices and commercial centres.
Cost accountants and management consultants were not included under any of the category and the proposal is to consider them as LT-VI (B) consumers. The fixed charge will be Rs 70 and Rs 5.50 a unit for the usage till 500 units and Rs 6 thereafter.
At present, offices and institutions under state and Central Governments, Corporations, Boards under State, Central Governments and local bodies are categorised under LT-VI (B) tariff. Village offices will also have to be included in this category, the proposal said.
The tax collecting authorities like treasuries should be brought under LT-VI (C) category. The power tariff is `180 as fixed charge and `7 for 500 units and `8.50 thereafter.
E-toilets and public comfort stations may be categorised under LT-VI (B). The KSEB requests to include gymnasium under LT-VII (C) irrespective of the connected load.
Software training centres and other related commercial activities would also be considered as HT category.
Software development units approved by a government agency shall be billed under HT-I industrial category.
However, software training units and other related activities under HT may be categorised under HT-IV commercial tariff.
For HT-I, the tariff is Rs 300 as fixed charge and Rs 4.10 per unit. In HT-IV category, Rs 56.50 for the usage till 30,000 units and Rs 6.50 for the extra consumption.
It is recommended for including cinema dubbing and animation studios in LT-VIII (C) and Centre for Hall in LT-VII (A) commercial category while showrooms, display outlets and service stations of automobiles under HT-IV commercial.
Private hospitals, clinical testing labs, consultancy clinics will be considered under LT-VII (A).
