LBS college to probe bridge collapse

The Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Engineering, Kasargod, will conduct a probe into the collapse of the longest hanging bridge, ‘Madakkal Bridge’, that came down within two months of its inauguration. “The government decided to withhold the balance amount to be given to the Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company, which built the bridge in Kasargod,” Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash said. The probe has been ordered on the basis of the preliminary report from the district administration, which came across certain technical flaws in the construction. The LBS has been entrusted with the probe as they have expertise in the construction of bridges. The Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company has been asked to provide the details of the design. Apart from this, the Collector had been instructed to file an FIR.
