Police arrested movie and serial actor Adityan, 32, nephew of the late Malayalam film star Jayan, for alleged cheating on Wednesday night.

The police took him into custody from his home in Kollam after the parents of a Kannur-based girl filed a complaint that Adityan has cheated them after promising to marry their daughter.

The parents said they had planned the marriage of Adityan and their daughter in 2007, and the engagement of the two was held at Guruvayoor temple in the same year. However, they postponed the date of the wedding as the girl turned out to be below the age of marriage.Later, Adityan violated the rules of engagement and married a soap actor, they alleged. Adityan had allegedly borrowed Rs 1.5 lakh from the girl’s parents in the name of the marriage. However, the actor reportedly said that the marriage was annulled on a mutual agreement.
