Home Minister skips Thalassery visit

Disappointing thousands of CPM and DYFI activists, who waited for the arrival of Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan here on Sunday to register their protests against the stance taken by him and the chief minister in the solar scam, the minister did not turn up. Thiruvanchoor was expected to attend the wedding of the daughter of his private secretary V K Raveendran, held at the Municipal Town Hall here.

The town was virtually under police cover from Saturday night onwards following reports that thousands of CPM and DYFI activists had gathered in various pockets of the town to raise protest against Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, as part of the state-wide agitation. The activists had planned to block the minister.
